2026-05-20 | On May 20, we hosted the CampusVital LOUNGE at Café rock-paper.

How Gender Shapes Our Health

A journey into the world of metabolism and gender differences, presented by Raphaela Fritsche.

Gender has a greater impact on our health than was long assumed – from disease progression to the effects of medications. While women are more likely to experience side effects, men are more severely affected by certain cardiovascular diseases. Modern medicine is increasingly recognizing how important it is to take these differences into account in diagnosis and treatment. Metabolomics reveals such gender-specific differences at the molecular level by analyzing metabolism as a reflection of current health status. Acting as a “molecular microscope,” it links genetic predispositions to actual biological processes. This makes it a key tool for personalized and gender-sensitive medicine.
